Maintenance Message Is Up

Finally, the hosting has managed to put the overstream maintenance message in place of the "suspended" message. We are proceeding with the account move back to the old server. I will report as soon as this move is made.

The last technician I have talked to has cited typical times of DNS propagation as 1-5 hours. The hosting is physically situated in USA in the East Coast, so for people in North America the DNS propagation time will be closer to the 1 hour mark.

Thank you so much for keeping us up to date... Hopefully at some point you'll be able to deal with a hosting company that will not keep you on hold for ridiculous amounts of time while thousands of users around the world try to access your site. I don't think you can quantify the damage that all this trouble has caused Overstream, but I do think that you should FIRMLY DEMAND better service from your provider...
Cheers,

Well, it's certainly tempting to start bashing the hosting, but the fact is that usually they are generally pretty good, and their technicians are fairly knowledgeable (especially Don, who has helped me on multiple occasions before). They are really baffled by the strange problems overstream.net was causing on the new server - it's like a curse or something ;)

However, I am definitely considering some other hosting options for the future.
